Heathrow is such a fantastic airport to fly from, I always get a buzz when we travel there. On our recent family trip to Thailand we decided to really maximize our trip by staying at an airport hotel for a couple of nights. The Hilton London Heathrow Airport was perfect. With a bright, airy feel and huge glass windows overlooking the water it really does feel like a staycation within itself. Its onsite OXBO restaurant is a great benefit for dining in and when you do fly the airport is very accessible.

Hilton London Heathrow Airport – Location
The Hilton London Heathrow Airport is situated a short walk from Heathrow’s Terminal 4. There’s a handy covered walkway that will take you straight in to the terminal.
The other terminals are easy enough to get to with a shuttle bus between them that calls in to the hotel.
While this is an airport hotel the imaginative use of glass and lovely mini lake and gardens to the back make it feel so much more than that. There’s a real air of calm and feel-good here.
There is onsite parking but it’s a fair cost and easier to park in one of the airport parking.
Staying at Hilton Terminal 4
This is a really big hotel, nearly 400 rooms with a large central atrium that floods light throughout. Despite its size it felt calm and ran well when we visited in July.
While the hotel does have interconnecting rooms we stayed in two separate bedrooms for our stay – a King Junior Suite and a twin deluxe room.
Both rooms had lovely, large comfortable beds. Rooms came with coffee machines with pods and the bathrooms were clean and had great, powerful showers.
The suite had the additional benefit of a lounge with sofa and lots of space. We had a bed placed here for our third child which worked really well.
The rooms were comfortable and spacious with plenty of wardrobe space. We loved the view from the suite onto the main atrium.
Eating at the Hilton London Heathrow Airport – OXBO
OXBO has a range of eating facilities available at the Hilton. There’s a restaurant, an all day cafe and a bar for snacks and drinks.
We ate in the Kitchen’s restaurant for breakfast each morning and loved the food. There were fresh juices, amazing pastries, cereals, fruits, porridge and more.
Pots of fresh coffee were delivered to the table, there was an egg chef and you could pick up hot food including vegetarian sausages and bubble and squeak.
We thought the selection and quality of breakfast foods was brilliant.
We also ate in the main restaurant on one of the evenings and had a fantastic family meal. From flatbreads to share – covered in broccoli, beetroot and avocado to fish and chips for the children and some delicious popcorn cauliflower to a great veggie burger.
We loved the meal and would absolutely eat in the next time we stay. This is not your standard hotel restaurant food, it’s excellent quality and full of imaginative choices.
How child friendly is the Hilton at Heathrow Airport?
There isn’t anything specifically child friendly at the hotel but children are more than welcome here. There’s plenty of space to burn off energy and the rooms are a great size for families.
It’s a real shame the hotel got rid of its swimming pool which seemed like a great benefit but the setting here with the lake to walk around is lovely.
Worth bearing in mind
There’s not a huge amount to bear in mind here – no hidden costs. It really is a great airport hotel.
One great thing the hotel offers is a buggy to the airport if you request it and don’t fancy the walk (although it is only seven minutes!).
The best bits
The location of the Hilton London Airport is wonderful. Being able to be in terminal 4 in seven minutes and to the other terminals in around 15 is a huge benefit.
We loved the gardens which are perfect for a walk through. Here you can see the hotel’s bee hives and also a range of fruit trees and vegetable plants which are used in the kitchen.
When we visited in July we also made use of the small beach area complete with deckchairs beside the little lake. It was the perfect place to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. The children liked playing the table tennis game here too.
